PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) received the prestigious Asian Freight and Supply and Chain Awards (AFSCA) 2011 in the category of Asia’s best container terminal award for operation under four million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). Helman Sembiring, President Director of JICT received the award at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore on Wednesday, 27 April 2011.
The AFSCA is designed to honor companies in the infrastructure sector for demonstrating leadership as well as consistency in service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability.
"We are proud to be the first Indonesian container terminal operator to receive a regional recognition for our quality service, best practices and technology innovation to faciliate the development of port infrastructure in Indonesia," said Helman Sembiring.
JICT won the award after being shortlisted against other international competitors such as the Dalian Container Terminal, ICTSI Manila, Northport, Nansha Terminal, Shekou Container Terminals, Laem Chabang International Terminal, Asia Container Terminal, and Shanghai Container Terminal.
AFSCA positions Indonesia as a country that offers world-class port services and able to compete with international players. This is a testament of Indonesia’s success in developing its port infrastructure to become a strong contender in an international level.

JICT, a successful joint venture between Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II, has been operating in Indonesia for 12 years and has invested over US$ 250 million on new equipments, berths and state of the art technology to boost its performance level.
